One Week Before Azerbaijan

I have been very fortunate enough to travel many places within the United States but also the around the world. My first time on a plane was when I was about two years old. The journey from China to the United States would be the first of many plane trips and adventures. Every since my first plane ride I've been hooked on traveling and exploring new places. The is such a thrill of exploring a place you never been before. Immersing yourself in a new culture really allows you to look at things in a different perspective.

I’m excited to explore a city of 2 million and shed my small town roots for a little bit. I’m ready to learn about the history of a city that has so much. I want to explore this city until I know every building and alley. I want to walk the streets of Baku until my feet hurt.

I’m excited to photograph a city that never sleeps and is constantly glowing. I want to photograph and document everything from the street lamps to the ancient ruins I want to remember it all.

I’m excited about all the new adventures I'm going to take, whether it is a trip to the grocery store or a trip across beautiful Azerbaijan. I want to soak in all the stories of people of Azerbaijan and be able to tell them once I come back. I want to learn everything I can about Azerbaijan: the culture, the food, the entertainment and everything in between.

I’m excited to strengthen my relationship with my family because we will need to with all of us living in an apartment together. I’m ready to know my siblings again and get to know them not as siblings but as individual people.

I’m excited to learn more about myself and learn who I am without my past lingering. I’m ready to meet new people who know nothing about me.

Traveling truly gives me a different perspective on my life, as well as others. I’m ready to fall in love with Azerbaijan.
