Last week was jammed pack with many adventures and I'm so excited to tell you all of them.
First Week of School
Last week was Hannah, Eve and Robin first week of classes at school #6. Everyday Hannah, Eve and Robin take a taxi to school and either walk home or take a taxi if the weather is bad. The walk from their school to our apartment is a little less than 2 miles. Their school is considered one of the best because the current president of Azerbaijan went there as a little boy. Please enjoy this article that describes the opening of school No. 6 after reconstruction. http://en.president.az/articles/3096 The school uniform for this school is white shirts with skirts for Hannah and Eve and black pants for Robin. On Wednesday they went on their first field trip to a planetarium and what they told me it was an experience to remember. If you have their social media accounts or email, I’m sure they would love to write to you about their first week more in depth.

Post Office Hunting
You would think finding a post office wouldn’t be that hard, right? I researched for a post office that was close to our apartment and within walking distance. Once we had found one, we left thinking that the post office would be clearly labeled and it would be a short trip, but after walking up and down several streets we still hadn't found the post office. After a while, we found a Fedex and hoped that they would be able to tell us where the post office was, a nice gentleman told us directions to the post office (whether it was the one that we were aiming for, I don't know). We tried following his directions but we still couldn't find the post office and decided just to head back home after a very unsuccessful trip.
METRO
Last week was Mom’s first time experiencing the Metro. Mom went up to ADA (Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy) University to make sure she knew where to get off and on. Mom was telling me that the Metro station is absolutely beautiful and it is after seeing pictures online. I wish that I could show you the Metro sometimes but I can’t because you aren't allowed to take photos inside the Metro station. About ten years ago there was a terrorist attack in the Metro station from Armenia (a neighboring country), the terrorists took photos of the Metro station so they would know what to target, so now there are hundreds of security people watching the inside of the Metro station.
Flying Solo
Last Tuesday was my first time exploring beautiful Baku all on my own. My goal was to meet Hannah, Eve and Robin after school and walk home with them, though it didn’t work out. I went down by the water and walked a while before I started heading to school #6. I waited outside the school for a while then after about 15-20 minutes, I decided to leave and head back home. The walk felt so refreshing and it was nice to be alone for a little bit. For those who are wondering the walk to and from was a little over 4 miles.
By Ourselves
Last Thursday Mom got invited to dinner at the library. Luckily, Mom left money so we could get pizza from a place that was five minutes down the road. After all four of us decided on which pizzas and salad we wanted, Robin and I walked down to Bellas to order the pizzas and salad. Last week Mom and Robin ordered pizza here before so the man recognized us and gave us the menu so we could point to what we wanted. The nice man told us to sit so we could wait for our food, after about fifteen minutes, the pizzas and salad were ready. Robin and I headed back to the apartment with the two medium sized pizzas and greek salad. Once we got home, I made some homemade french fries to go with the pizza and salad. It was definitely an experience cooking for multiple people for the first time an especially since I wasn’t familiar with the stove but I made french fries that everyone liked.

The Move (Pictures will be up in a separate post as soon as possible)
Last Friday we looked at another apartment that we could possible move into since our current one wasn’t working out. In the old apartment, we were on top of each other and constantly in each other’s business which was no fun for both us and Mom. The sleeping space wasn’t working for many reasons and also there was barely any study space for all four of us to do our homework. On Sunday we moved into what we thought was our new apartment. Everything was so beautiful and fancy but on Monday Mom got a call saying that we moved into the wrong apartment so late Monday we had to move all of our things into the right apartment. A couple of the building caretakers wanted us to move out of the apartment as quickly as possible so the landlord wouldn’t be able to charge us or even know that we were there. The new apartment has three bedrooms, a kitchen and dining area and lots of study space, the view from outside all our windows is exquisite. The ironic thing is our first apartment and our last one was on the same floor, 12. Our new apartment is right across from our first one.
