This is what the Carpet Museum looks like. (This photo is from their Facebook)

Today we visited the Carpet Museum in Baku. The Carpet Museum opened in 2014, the architecture is incredible because if you look at the picture it is shaped like a carpet. The Carpet Museum has three floors with hundreds of carpets, jewelry, metal creations and traditional clothing on display.

Before we were allowed to enter the museum we had to go through security. Another thing that is important to note is that we were only allowed to take photos with our phones unless we wanted to pay extra to take pictures with our cameras. So all these photos are taken from my phone.

This was how the carpets displayed. They are so beautiful!

One of the first carpets that I saw. This carpet was made by weaving string around sticks.

This is my favorite carpet that I saw today. I really don't know why it is my favorite but it is.

These are carpet bags that people made to carry around their belongings.

Along with carpet they had beautiful metal sculptures, these are oil lamps.

Some traditional clothing was also on display. All the dresses were absolutely beautiful!

Beautiful carpet that has flowers on it.

This carpet was embroidered instead woven, it is even prettier in person.

I really love all the colors on this one.

Beautiful carpet!

If I had to pick my second favorite it would be this one. I just think all the colors are so beautiful and different from all the other carpets.

On the third floor they had carpet that looked like paintings. This one of Paris and the Eiffel Tower.

Like the last one this one looks like a painting and of Azerbaijan's most well known attractions, The Maiden Tower

Scattered throughout the museum were women who were weaving and working on their carpets. One of the carpet weavers helped me put in a carpet thread on her carpet. She first showed me how to do it, then helped me. To think that it takes thousands of carpet threads to make one carpet just amazes me.

She was making several little carpets, probably for the gift shop that was downstairs. Behind the loom you can see the piece of paper with the finished design and instructions.

One of her finished carpets. Look how beautiful it is.

Me learning how to thread a carpet thread,
