On Saturday, we visited the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, which was right around the corner from the Miniature Book Museum. The Palace was absolutely beautiful and full of history. (The letter next to the caption of the photos are where we were inside the Palace grounds so you can follow along with the map that is below.)

(B) Just look at all the details around the doorways

(B) This is my favorite doorway because it is so intricate and beautiful and reminds me a lot of Morocco.

(B) This part of the Palace grounds was not finished due to political and historical situations. This was sections of the Palace was used possibly used for meetings and large gatherings.

(H) Beautiful Mosque

(H) All around the Palace they had these little doorways. I just thought they were so beautiful and neat. One of the doors we were abel to go through and it lead to another worship spot away from the main place of worship.

(Around E) Large cement tiles that had scripture and names on them

(C) March 31st - April 2nd, 1918 Armenian Dashnaks committed the genocide of Azerbaijanis in many parts of Azerbaijan, including Baku. In the city of Baku, 12,000 innocent civilians felt victims to this massacre. The traces of the shooting you can still see on the Palace walls are silent witnesses of those tragic events

The next few pictures aren't from the Palace of the Shirvanshahs but outside of the Palace Complex but still inside the Old City.
