Today we visited the Baku Zoo. The Baku zoo was relatively small zoo containing over 1200 animals. As we walked through the zoo we noticed that they had lots of birds, which we concluded that birds were easier to maintain than other animals. Some of the birds were parrots, Macaws, flamingos, peacocks, swans, geese, an owl, and vultures. Along with the birds, there were several wolves, brown bears, camels, and lions. It was a nice little zoo for those who have never been to a zoo before but as frequent zoo-goers, the conditions that the animals were in was absolutely astonishing. The animals didn't have any enrichments of any kinds, dirty water and barely any greener inside the enclosures. All the animals were very caged and when you see the images I think you will know what I mean.

"According to order of Ilham Aliyev – the President of Azerbaijan will be constructed in Ceyranbatan village of Absheron rayon, about 10 kilometers (6.2 mi) from Baku." The current zoo is about 10 acres and the new zoo will be about 570 acres. With the new zoo they are supposed to get more animals from all over the world. Hopefully with the new zoo the animals will have more room to roam around.
